Description : This book addresses the issue of reading in high school courses , where many students have difficulty understanding what they read . It is based on the thesis that rhetoric can contribute to the development of the level of reading comprehension of written argumentative texts . Through recognition of argumentative strategies and rhetorical devices that are used in texts whose objective it is to convince certain audiences , it is possible to understand the objectives of their enunciators . So that the reader can verify the validity of Rhetoric as an aid to reading, a historical approach to the sciences today has inherited  what we consider essential to an understanding of an argumentative text: the knowledge of the audience and the resources used to persuade him . An illustrative analysis of argumentative texts from magazines and newspapers today confirms the importance of rhetoric in understanding these texts.
